TILL DEATH US DO PART

Untying the marital knot

Doubtless my ancestors hoped for long and contented marriages where their territorial and economic prospects would flourish and they would be blessed with many children (especially sons).

But what if things didn't work out? What if they wanted to be free of their spouse?

In an era where the Church ruled that marriage was a lifelong committment was it possible to untie the marital knot and start again?

You will be surprised at how ingenious my ancestors were.
